Wilfrid Laurier University and the International Women’s Forum’s eighth annual International Women’s Day luncheon will feature a panel of Laurier women who are working at the forefront of community-based health solutions in Canada.
The event will take place on March 5 at Bingeman’s Conference Centre in Kitchener. Tickets are on sale until Feb. 26.
Shaping the Future of Health and Wellness Through Community-based Approaches features Canada Research Chair and Laurier associate professor, Melody Morton Ninomiya, a researcher, educator and mediator in Indigenous health and wellness and community-based health; Laurier associate professor, Josephine McMurray, a researcher in technology and aging and regional health innovation; and Mary Ajayi, sexual health educator at SHORE Centre in Waterloo Region. All panelists are also alumnae of Laurier.
The panel will be moderated by Ellyn Winters-Robinson, president and CMO of Ignition Communications, founder of AskEllyn, and a member of the Waterloo chapter of the International Women’s Forum.
“The International Women’s Day luncheon is a powerful opportunity to celebrate Laurier faculty, students and alumnae who are making meaningful impact in our communities,” said Deborah MacLatchy, Laurier’s president and vice-chancellor. “With health care systems facing significant challenges, the work of our panelists is more important than ever. I am incredibly proud of these Laurier and community-engaged women who are driving innovative solutions to improve health and wellness outcomes for so many.”
