Program Highlights
Why choose Laurier? We have an outstanding reputation as one of Canada’s top graduate schools for social work education:
- Since 1966, we have graduated nearly 5,400 social workers.
- More than 85% of our graduates find full-time employment in the field.
- Our full-time program offers flexible hybrid learning for advanced standing and second-year students, while first-year students receive foundational in-person instruction and opportunities to build connection and community.
- Our part-time MSW program is fully online and delivered asynchronously, with most courses structured as six-week sessions to support flexible yet guided learning.
- The field education office works with various agencies across the social work landscape to identify MSW level placements.
- Full-time students are matched with approved field placements recruited by the Field Education Office within commuting distance of their home campus.
- Students may complete an approved field placement within their own community or region, or within their place of employment—provided it meets the conditions for approval as a workplace placement.
- We are fully accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE).
Starting Fall 2025, the Indigenous Field of Study (IFS) full-time and part-time programs will be offered in a hybrid format, combining in-person and virtual learning. There is no need to relocate—students enrolled in the program will take a combination of in-person one-week intensives and virtual synchronous (remote) courses.
