Submissions are now open for the 2025 Edna Staebler Award for Creative Non-Fiction, recognizing books published between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
Entries will be accepted until April 15, 2025.
To qualify, the writer must be Canadian, and the entry:
- must be a writer’s first or second book in any genre;
- must be written in the genre of creative non-fiction;
- must have a Canadian locale and/or significance; and
- should be distinguished by first-hand research, well-crafted interpretive writing, the writer’s personal discovery or experience, and creative use of language or subject matter.
Self-published books are not eligible. Prior winners are also not eligible. The judges reserve the right to grant or withhold the award in any year. The decision of the judges is final, and they are unable to provide personalized feedback on submissions.
